MEMORIES OF APOLLO

A homage to the memories of the 720 million people watching the first Moon landing on July 20, 1969. Neil Armstrong's "That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind." was heard and watched by at least 1/5 of the population of the Earth on live television. While this historic first step put an end to the space race, it marked the beginning of an optimism about technology and an enthusiasm for the future.

This book shares Carl Sagan's reflections of the Moon landings and their impact on society. Originally published in 1989 this text is accompanied by pictures taken by the crew of Apollo 11 – the first mission to land on the Moon.

How can we reclaim the tactile experience of analogue products, from a physical and aesthethic point of view, in the future digital world?

Smartphones have made it possible to use one device for a wide range of exoeriences, but the flat screen's lack of physical features creates interactions without a variety of tactile feedback. By translating the motion of commonly used apps into analogue features, the tactile experience of the past would enhance the experience of the new digital world.
